The Best Saints Fansite on the Net!

Well here we are.

We are still alive. We still have our football club.

the darkest days or Southampton FC are surely behind us. Whilst I am very gratefull to Mr Wotte for helping us through this awful time I still have to back the decision to let him go. This is a new start after all.

So far, everything I have heard has been what i wanted to hear. Talk of sensible spending and long term strategy are music to my ears. I don't want an all or nothing, big spend or bust, push for promotion this year. I want a strong 5-10 year plan to push us back towards where we belong. That said, I'd like to think a playoff place isn't out of the question even given our 10 point deficit.

The road is, of course, long. But with financial security, fan loyalty and the loyalty of players such as Kelvin Davis- I think we'll get there.

I wish Drew Surman every success with Wolves and cannot hold it against him in the slightest.

NOw the big question is: Who's the next manager?

Honestly i'm still just happy to say that the question isn't 'will we still exist next year'.

Strachan would be my ideal choice (if not le tiss- that's my illogical boyhood dream choice).

In any case, what do you lot think?

Mike

Well, firstly, I'm glad to discover I haven't just joined to be tghe only one contributing on here! :)

In terms of what you have written, I tend to agree with a lot of what you have said... apart from the bit about Le Tiss being manager. Yes, he is my hero, but I recognise that he is not right to be a football club manager and fortunately I think he recognises it too! The same can be said for Alan Shearer.

My choice of manager would be Strachan, though it looks unlikely.

Next choice is probably one of several:

Curbishley
Coppell
Keegan
Pearson
Boothroyd
Cotterill

After that Hoddle maybe, then Mickey Adams or Nick Holmes.

Paul Tisdale has been mentioned by a few people and he looks to have done well at Exeter so I guess I would be happy with him, but not sure where I'd place him in the ranking above!
